Terms and Conditions for The Island Games - Malta Edition 2025

1. Introduction 1.1. Welcome to The Island Games (the "Competition") to be held on the Island of Malta on the 9th, 10th and 11th May 2025. By registering for or participating in the Competition, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. 1.2. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Malta and apply to all participants, organizers, sponsors, and affiliates of the Competition.

2. Eligibility 2.1. Participants must be 18 years or older to compete. 2.2. All participants must complete the registration form via Team Aretas. 2.3. Participants are required to be in good health and physically capable of participating in the events of the Competition. Proof of health and fitness, such as a medical certificate, may be required.

3. Event Format 3.1. The Competition will consist of a number of events / workouts, across the 3 days,  such as running, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing and swimming, designed to test overall fitness. 3.2. Participants confirm they are aware that the activity in which they desire to participate is extremely strenuous and may push them to the limits of their physical abilities. 3.3 Event details, schedules, and rules will be provided to participants upon registration and are subject to change at the discretion of the organizers.

4. Safety and Conduct 4.1. Safety is a priority. All participants must follow the instructions of event officials and adhere to safety guidelines at all times. 4.2. Participants must compete with integrity, respect fellow competitors, and avoid any behavior that may endanger others. 4.3. Any form of cheating, unsportsmanlike conduct, or failure to comply with event rules may result in disqualification.

5. Liability 5.1. By participating in the Competition, participants acknowledge and accept the inherent risks associated with functional fitness activities. 5.2. The organizers, sponsors, and affiliates of the Competition are not liable for any injury, illness, or loss that may occur as a result of participation in the Competition. 5.3. The organisers accept no liability for loss and damage to property of the participants.  5.4.agree to indemnify and hold harmless the organizers from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of their participation. 5.4 The organizers are only responsible for their facilities and staff, such that any right of action that the Participant might have may be against someone other than the organisers, for example, the owner of the facility at which the Activity is provided. 5.6. It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that they are capable of taking part in the Activity. The participant accepts the risk of injury from performing in such Activity and are advised to consult their doctor prior to joining the Activity.

 

6. Medical Assistance 6.1. Medical staff will be on-site to provide assistance in case of injury or illness. 6.2. Participants consent to receive medical treatment deemed necessary by on-site medical personnel during the event.

 

7. Travel and Accommodation 7.1. Participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements to and from Malta. 7.2. Accommodation options will be provided by the organizers, but participants are responsible for booking and paying for their own accommodations. 7.3. The organizers are not responsible for any travel disruptions or additional expenses incurred.

 

8. Prizes 8.1. Prizes will be awarded during the competition. 8.2. The nature and value of the prizes will be determined by the organizers and are subject to change. 8.3. Prizes are non-transferable and may not be exchanged for cash or other items.

 

9. Photography and Media 9.1. By participating, participants grant the organizers the right to use any photographs, video recordings, or other media of the event for promotional purposes. 9.2. Participants may be featured in media coverage, and consent to the use of their likeness in such content.

 

10. Partner Brands 10.1 By registering, participants grant the organizers the right to share participant details with partner brands supporting The Island Games.

 

11. Cancellation and Changes 11.1. The organizers reserve the right to cancel or modify the Competition for any reason, including but not limited to weather conditions, safety concerns, or unforeseen circumstances. 11.2. In the event of cancellation, participants will be notified as soon as possible and any registration fees may be refunded at the discretion of the organizers.

 

12. Dispute Resolution 12.1. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with the Competition will be resolved through amicable negotiations. 12.2. If a resolution cannot be reached, the dispute will be dealt with as per the laws of Malta. 

 

13. Acknowledgment 13.1. By registering for the Competition, participants acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions.
